I embarked on installing a transmission cooler on my 2011 Ranger 2x2 2.3l. Being "old school" I, of course, bought a Hayden cooler. Hayden's instructions were more non-existent than some I have seen translated from Chinese. Beyond poor, in fact worthless. Fortunately, I don't need them, but some might need instructions. Hayden suggested install kit 350 (fittings to mate hard line to oil cooler hose), if memory serves. I ordered it. It does not work. So, I go back to the Hayden website knowing what I need to hook up the tranny supply and return line: a DEEP 5/8" by 18 inverted male and female flare to either 11/32" Hayden line supplied with the cooler or 3/8" hose which should work even though oversized by 1/32". Surprise! Hayden does not offer the correct fitting. But Derale does offer it. The tranny hard supply and return lines at the radiator are not standard depth fittings. They are deep fittings which Derale offers for sale and you can find them on Summit too. The Summit part number is DER 13025. Same number at Derale. The fitting allows you to put a hose on the barbed end of the fitting at the radiator and at the return line itself: both require deep fittings since the fitting on the Ford tranny hard line to the radiator do not start their threads for about 1/4 inch after the flare; it is like a spacer on the end of the Ford fitting and then the threads start. For those looking for the correct fitting, Derale/Summit has it. See the part number above.
Ultimately,it is sad to see a historically reputable company like Hayden fail to keep up with the times by selling a product which will not work on my Ranger when a company like Derale has the hot ticket. It's not the money, it is the time wasted and the lack of effort by Hayden. FYI.
