I have a sub that runs at 300w RMS with a 300w RMS amp. I plan to put 4 KC slimlites with 100W hallogens in front and 2 55 watt floods in the back. Obviously the floods will only be on for a few moments while backing up. Going to install a dual battery system with yellowtop or similar mounted in the bed.
I am still running the original alternator that is 9 years old with 115,000 miles. I am actually amazed that it just keeps on working!
If I upgrade to a 200 amp or similar alternator for this load will I need to upgrade the wires?
I read something about high power alternators not charging at idle RPM. This concerns me because offroading often involves driving slow for extended periods.
What is a solid brand? I find bad stuff about every alternator I read up on. Powermaster, tuff stuff, and so on. Don't want to break the bank I think about 300 bucks is the budget for the alternator.
Maybe I should just do the big 3?
